Relais & Châteaux Weeshuis Gouda
A long-cherished dream finally came true: on 28 May 2021, boutique hotel Relais & Châteaux Weeshuis Gouda (WSHS) opened its elegant doors. Stepping into this luxurious hotel, you immediately leave everyday life behind. Before the opening, Typhoon Hospitality developed a PR strategy that generated more than 120 publications in 2021 alone, and the PR continued after that as well. Typhoon Hospitality also developed a social media strategy: WSHS's social media channels were taken over in the pre-opening phase and are still managed by Typhoon Hospitality today. The result has been significant growth in social media and website visitors.
The plan of owners Sharon and Lennart van Gastel was to transform a former orphanage into an eclectic hot spot. Besides a plethora of beautiful rooms, WSHS has a fine restaurant, LIZZ, and champagne and cocktail bar COCO. Typhoon Hospitality was asked to spread the word about the hotel's opening and create lasting brand awareness through PR and social media services. Additionally, Typhoon Hospitality was tasked with creating and strengthening COCO and LIZZ's identity among consumers and media.
Typhoon Hospitality sent out an opening message and launched WSHS in the Dutch media landscape. Publications were generated amongst media titles including but not limited to &C, De Telegraaf and AD (in 2021 alone, these were 120 publications). Since 2020, Typhoon Hospitality has been WSHS' sole partner in PR. Two examples:
Grazia: 'Are you considering a city trip to Gouda? Then stay overnight in one of the city's most beautiful monuments. That is where you will now find the boutique hotel Relais & Chateaux Weeshuis Gouda. Sleep in one of the 25 luxurious sweets, supported by the historic beams of the former orphanage from 1599.'
De Telegraaf: 'Sometimes we come to places where almost immediately we regret that there will be a moment when we have to leave again. Hotel-restaurant WSHS in Gouda is such a place!'
Besides PR, Typhoon Hospitality is also responsible for WSHS' social media channels. From writing catchy captions, executing photo shoots, and scheduling and posting content. In addition, Typhoon Hospitality is responsible for running online advertising campaigns and WSHS's online community management. As a result, WSHS has a slick social media identity and an average of 8-10 per cent extra direct website traffic.
